I have one of the most important updates I’ve ever posted for you today and it’s to do with the WP Buy Now plug-in, if you’ve read my previous reviews on it you’ll know how highly I rate this tool and that unfortunately it hasn’t been released to the public as yet, but that will all change towards the end of next month.
I spoke to Stan, the boffin coder behind WP Buy Now last week and he told me the reason that it hadn’t made general release so far is because he had been out of the frame for awhile so was unable to put the finishing touches on it, but now he’s back and it turns out he’s been extremely busy.
He also offered me a beta copy of the latest updated version to have a play with and boy has he pulled out all the stops, because now it includes a coupon codes function and a full set-up wizard feature that’s simply awesome! (I hate using that word as it sounds so hypey but there’s no other word for it because, well it is)
Originally just like most other membership site software, setting up the site structure using WP Buy Now was quite “Challenging” as my first attempt took me a couple of days and after that it still took about four hours once I had mastered the ropes, but testing the new updated beta version using the all new set-up wizard, the first time I tried it to duplicate a simple single level membership site like my first one, putting the site structure in place took me about six minutes from start to finish.
I then had another go this time setting up the structure for a sales site to include four separate products to sell, that took about ten minutes (but I am a two finger typist) admittedly for that test, these were all just stand-alone, individual products to test everything out so I didn’t include any of the one time offer, dime-sale or coupon code functions, but those are simply added with just a few mouse clicks so wouldn’t have extend that time by very much.
As an example on the membership site side of things the default is for three levels but it includes a box for you to enter a number for the amount of levels you want your site to have, but you do then have to give each level a name and insert the individual price you intend to charge for that level,
The product sales side works along similar lines where you enter a number for the amount of “for sale” products you want to start out with, then that number of boxes appear for you to enter the product details and once done the plug-in then creates all of the individual pages for you, the sales pages, thank you pages etc all ready for you to simply enter your content.
I do own a fair few stand-alone membership site scripts plus a few WordPress plug-ins and have to say that WP Buy Now was the best one I had ever bought by a huge margin and with the new set-up wizard, it’s now the easiest to set-up by the same measure as it walks you through the entire process plus the set-up is so fast that it’ll make your jaw drop. (I know because I’m still brushing carpet fluff off my chin)
Next comes the best bit, the guys have decided to do the initial relaunch as another Warrior Forum Special Offer which means you will be able to grab it for a fraction of the final retail price, they’ve told me they are looking at on or around May 28th for when their WSO will go live so mark your calender and stay tuned to this blog as I’ll be giving you the heads-up the moment it hits.
